Registered Nurse (RN) – 6A Acute Care for Elderly (ACE)

Night Shift (Hours: 7 p.m.- 7 a.m.), weekends, and holidays, as per department guidelines.

ChristianaCare Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) who is passionate about caring for the elderly population. 

Unit Overview

6A is a dedicated medical unit that cares for patients facing a range of challenging health conditions. The patient may arrive with serious surgical issues, such as fractured hips, or they may be recovering from a stroke. Other common conditions include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), back pain, and urinary tract infections (UTIs). In addition to these immediate medical concerns, many patients may also have underlying issues like dementia, which adds complexity to their care and requires a compassionate, comprehensive approach from the medical team.

Our nurses care for five medical patients during each shift and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, which includes a unit-based Nurse Practitioner, attending and consulting physicians, pharmacy staff, physical therapists, and other support personnel.

Education & Requirements:

• DE RN License or a Compact Nursing License is required.
• An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required. Applicants must commit to obtaining a BSN within 3 years of the hire date.
• All candidates must have a minimum of one year of RN experience.
• Preferred Experience: 2-3 years of experience in an inpatient acute care hospital setting.
• Gerontology Certification.
• BLS required.
